Erin P. Demakos, RN, CCRC is the Associate Director of the Myelodysplastic Syndrome and Myeloproliferative Disease Program at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY. Ms. Demakos has been in clinical practice in the field of myelodysplastic syndromes for over 15 years. Ms. Demakos received her degree in nursing in 1984. She worked in cardiothoracic critical care nursing from 1984-1987. She began working with Dr. James F. Holland and Dr. Lewis R. Silverman in 1987, and has been in practice since that time in the field of myelodysplastic syndromes.

She was the lead Clinical Nurse Coordinator on several National Cancer and Leukemia Group B trials utilizing 5-azacitidine in patients with MDS (CALGB Study #'s 8421, 8921, and 9221). She was also a co-investigator on the development of the Quality of Life study on CALGB 9221, interviewing over 191 patients over several years in collaboration with Rosalie Odchimar Reissig, RN.
